    About SightDex

A community atlas of Pokémon in TCG artwork

SightDex catalogs every Pokémon that appears on a Pokémon Trading Card — not just the one named on the card, but the background cameos, trainer companions, reflections, and silhouettes hiding in the illustration. Search the whole collection by card, Pokémon, Trainer, set, or artist, and help build the most complete, most accurate record of Pokémon artwork appearances anywhere.

    01

    Spot the Pokémon

Contributors are shown real cards and identify the Pokémon they can spot, labelling each as featured, a cameo, or an object. A sighting only enters the public database once enough independent trainers agree — genuine consensus, not a single opinion. Already know a card? Add its appearances yourself from the Database and it jumps into the queue for others to confirm.

    02

    Search every card

One search bar for the whole TCG. Find a card by its name, the Pokémon featured on it, a Pokémon hiding in the artwork, a Trainer, a set, a card number, or the illustrator — then open any card to see everything spotted in its art.

    03

    Earn your rank

Accurate identifications build your Trainer Score, ranking you from Rookie Trainer to Champion, while your contributions unlock badges from New Trainer to Master Observer. Most cards hide nothing, so saying so is real work and it counts. Spotting a cameo the community goes on to confirm pays several times more, because so few cards have one. Known-answer cards keep everyone honest, and the leaderboard celebrates the sharpest-eyed spotters in the community.

    Welcome to SightDex

The community database of every Pokémon in Pokémon TCG artwork — featured, cameos, and hidden appearances. Here's how it works in four quick steps.

    Contribute sightings, earn Trainer Score

We show you real TCG cards and you tell us which Pokémon appear in the artwork — including sneaky background cameos. Right answers earn points and level you up from Rookie Trainer to Champion.

    Explore the Database

Search any Pokémon to see every card it appears on, with the printings available in each language. Cards enter the database once enough contributors have confirmed them.

    Track your Collection

Pick the Pokemon you collect and check off each printing you own. Your progress bars show exactly which cards are still out there.

    Contribute

    How to contribute

We show you a real TCG card and you tell us every Pokémon in the artwork — not just the star of the card, but the ones tucked into the background. Here's how to read a card.

    Tag how each Pokémon appears

For every Pokémon you add, pick how it shows up in the art:

    • Featured The card's main Pokémon — the one it's named after.
    • Cameo A real Pokémon elsewhere in the scene: background, a companion, a reflection, a silhouette.
    • Object A Pokémon shown as a thing — a plush, statue, logo, poster, screen, or balloon.

    Cameo example

Pikachu, 151 — a busy street scene full of background Pokémon
    Cameo

The scene around this Pikachu is packed with real Pokémon — Blastoise, Butterfree, Gengar and more peeking through the town. Each one is a cameo.

    Object example

Iono, Paldea Evolved — Pokémon shown as merch and on-screen graphics
    Object

On this Iono card the Pokémon show up as merch and on-screen graphics rather than live creatures. That makes them objects.

    "No other Pokémon besides Venusaur"

Venusaur card whose art shows no other Pokémon

When a card already stars a Pokémon, you're asked which other Pokémon appear. The star is logged for you, so don't re-add it.

Here only Venusaur appears, so tick No other Pokémon besides Venusaur and submit.

    "No Pokémon displayed"

Poppy trainer card whose art shows no Pokémon

Some cards — Trainers, items, and Energy — have no Pokémon in the art at all.

This Poppy card shows only the trainer, so tick No Pokémon displayed and submit.

Drop a pin to show where

Pins (droppins) mark exactly where a Pokémon sits — a big help for hard-to-spot cameos.

    1. Add a Pokémon so its tag appears.
    2. Tap the 📍 button on that tag.
    3. Click the spot on the card — a coloured dot drops there.
    4. Tap 📍 again to move it, or remove the Pokémon to clear it.

    Set your confidence and submit

Choose I'm sure or I think so, then submit. A sighting only enters the database once enough trainers independently agree, so an honest "I think so" still helps.
